Karen Atkins
For many years I have understood my vocation as that of a companion - someone who tends to the quiet, often tender spaces where a person’s true heart can be heard.
I offer supervision and spiritual companioning grounded in deep respect for your inner life and the wisdom you already carry. My work has grown out of walking alongside individuals and professionals in complex, uncertain and liminal seasons, where easy answers are neither possible nor helpful.
I hold a Diploma of Professional Supervision through the Institute of Pastoral Supervision and Reflective Practice (IPSRP), and have trained and worked as a spiritual director, palliative care spiritual care practitioner, grief educator and life purpose coach. I completed my spiritual direction training with Stillpoint in Brisbane in 2015.
My years in paediatric and adult palliative care have brought me the humbling privilege of accompanying individuals and families through some of the darkest and most sacred moments of their lives. These encounters - and the people who entrusted me with their stories - have been my deepest teachers, revealing the importance of bearing witness to suffering and the truth that grief work is, at its core, soul work.
Whether in supervision or spiritual companioning, I offer a spacious, grounded presence where you can listen more deeply to your own life, respond to what is emerging, and honour the shape of your calling.
If you would like to enquire about supervision, spiritual companioning, or grief work, or simply sense whether this work feels right for you, I warmly invite you to get in touch.
